What We’re Looking For

Primary Responsibilities
- Enforce criminal and traffic laws for the State of Maryland, Somerset County, and the Town of Princess Anne
- Conduct proactive patrols, problem-solving, and community engagement
- Prepare detailed reports and provide courtroom testimony
- Respond to emergencies while providing compassionate assistance
Shift work is required for all department employees. Officers are expected to maintain professional conduct, uphold constitutional rights, and foster positive community relationships.
Minimum Qualifications
- 21 years of age or older
- High school diploma or GED (college preferred)
- Valid driver’s license
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident eligible for citizenship
- Ability to meet physical fitness and background standards
Preferred Qualifications
- College coursework in criminal justice or related fields
- Military experience or prior law enforcement service
- Community service and leadership involvement
